To comply with the HSA regulation – Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, it is necessary for any business/person using plant & machinery to have them regularly inspected, tested and certified and this certificate of compliance is known as a GA1 Certificate, (formerly CR2/CR4 and Certificate of thorough Examination).
How often do I have to test my equipment?
It is required that brake quarry testing and certain lifting equipment should also legally be tested every six months and the majority of plant machinery should be tested every twelve months
When will I get my required paperwork?
If all testing is undertaken and the equipment meets the safety standards required by law we can issue the GA1 certificate of compliance on site on the day of testing, we can also issue the paperwork with the results of the brake testing process we carry out on mobile equipment.
How long is my GA1 Certificate of Compliance valid for?
The GA1 Certificate is valid for a period of twelve months from date of issue.
What happens if I don’t test my equipment?
If the equipment is not tested the company will be in breach of the HSA regulation – Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007. This legislation was designed in order to maintain equipment to a high standard in order to protect the employees. A failure to comply with this mandatory testing process could also have insurance implications.
